Danso: "We need to show the same positive intensity as we did against Leipzig"

First Team 04.04.2019, 16:58
Despite an incredible effort over 120 minutes against RB Leipzig, FC Augsburg’s DFB-Pokal adventure came to an end on Tuesday night. On Sunday 7th April, FCA return to Bundesliga action against TSG Hoffenheim (15:30 CEST) as the team look to avoid relegation. Kevin Danso is fully focused on the league task at hand once more. A good performance isn’t always rewarded as FC Augsburg found out on Tuesday evening. Despite a strong performance, the hosts were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal at the quarter-final by RB Leipzig. Kevin Danso has taken the positives out of the match. “We gave everything we had and left everything on the pitch. Unfortunately the match didn’t have a positive ending for us. However, I am incredibly proud of the team and how we performed.” The FCA squad have moved on from the cup disappointment to fully focus on the battle against Bundesliga relegation. The team want to move a step closer to safety by securing all three points against TSG Hoffenheim. Danso, who has been a key part of the Augsburg defence in recent weeks, hope his teammates can deliver another strong performance at home on Sunday. “We have to approach this match in the same way that we did on Tuesday. We have to give everything we have and defend compactly to make it difficult for Hoffenheim to score. We will have to cover a lot of ground and show the same positive intensity as we did against Leipzig.” Secure points in front of home crowd Opponents TSG Hoffenheim cannot be underestimated as they are only one point off the Europa League places. The young Austrian defender knows the quality Hoffenheim possess, but has faith in his team securing a victory on Sunday. “They are currently playing well this season. They are fantastic on the counter attack. Nevertheless, we will give everything we have to play well on Sunday and secure all three points.”
