New deal until 2030

FC Augsburg have extended Chrislain Matsima’s contract by another year, keeping him at the club until at least 30th June 2030. The 23-year-old Frenchman joined FCA at the start of last campaign on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco, before making the move permanent at the start of this season, having quickly become a key piece of his side’s defence.

The 1.92m-tall centre-back played 30 games last season, scoring a goal and assisting another. He has been ever-present in the FCA defence this season and is yet to miss a single minute, while also popping up with another goal and an assist. He has been getting experience elsewhere with the France U21 side, making 13 appearances and reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 U21 EUROs in Slovakia.

“Chrislain has developed so well over the past few months and has taken on responsibility. We’re really pleased that he sees his future here at FC Augsburg, and that we can continue on this journey together. This is a strong statement as to the direction the club is looking to go,” said sporting director Benni Weber

Chrislain himself is also pleased with his new contract extension: “I’m really grateful for the trust that the club has put in me. It gives me a lot of motivation. I have the opportunity here at FCA to continue to develop further, to take on more responsibility and to help the rest of the team achieve our goals. You get the sense that we’re really building something here.”
