At FCA for 18 years

FC Augsburg have agreed a long-term contract with Michael Ströll. Our CEO, who has been at the club for 18 years, has signed a deal until 30th June 2029.

The 39-year-old sports economist, who himself featured for FCA’s second team as a player, started as an intern at the then-second tier side in 2006 and assisted in a variety of areas at the club. A native of Bavaria, Ströll was then promoted to an authorised signatory in 2013 and then became the chief commercial officer in 2016. Michael Ströll has been CEO of FCA since the departure of Stefan Reuter in September 2023.

“Michael Ströll has been a huge part of FC Augsburg’s development in the last 15 years, which has been a huge success story. He always acts in the best interests of our club and has become a role model, not least because of his career path,” said FCA president Markus Krapf. “FC Augsburg are currently part of the Bundesliga furniture, are very well structured and in great financial health. We’re very happy that he’s here long-term, as he’s the perfect man to lead our FCA.”

“After 18 years at FCA, I can say with certainty that the club’s development is a real labour of love for me,” added Michael Ströll. “We’ve worked on a lot of structural and strategic aspects in the last few years and also taken important sporting steps towards a successful future. Therefore, I’m sure that our journey is nowhere near over and I’m looking forward to working with the whole team over the next few years.”

Claudio Dopatka to be authorised signatory

FC Augsburg have also made another important personnel decision. After a new organisational structure was implemented at the start of last year, managing director Claudio Dopatka’s range of responsibilities has been increased in order to strengthen our organisation and optimise different processes. Dopatka, who has been at FCA since 2015 and a member of the supervisory board since 2023, will now be given the power of attorney. The 32-year-old will be an authorised signatory and support CEO Michael Ströll further in operative affairs as well as represent FCA in legal matters. As an authorised signatory, Dopatka will be responsible for the areas of finance and control, stadium operation and security, the commercial wing of the FCA youth department plus catering and IT.
