“Keep the three points here in Augsburg”

First Team 16.01.2017, 14:36
FC Augsburg have been preparing for their home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday, 21st January 15:30 CET since they returned from Marbella. Head coach Manuel Baum spoke to the media about several things after the first training session in the minus temperatures. ... on the change in temperature: "Being able to adapt in general is extremely important as a footballer. It doesn't matter if that is the weather, the next opponent or the conditions on the pitch. If you face a change in the weather conditions, of course you need to adapt appropriately." ... on the change in climate: "The body does need some time to adjust to a different climate, so we also decided to travel back from our training camp on Friday and then to give the players the next two days off. Now we have a week of training to get used to things." ... on getting to know each other at the training camp: You can never stop getting to know one another because football always throws up different situations. There are time when everything goes your way and there are time when things go against you. As a result you are always learning. But the training sessions were a good way of introducing this idea and encouraging it. ... on the staff: Daniel Baier trained again today and Dominik Kohr will join up with us later in the week. So that's how the team is looking at the moment. The decisions during training to leave one or two of them out were the right ones. ... on Raul Bobadilla: We will have to slowly coax Raul back after his injury. He played a 25 minute test game in training and in another 45-minute spell he scored a goal. You can see his quality. But the most important thing is that we have a fully fit Raul Bobadilla when he comes back from his spell on the sidelines. We're going to take it step by step so as to not injure him again. As a result we'll build him back up. ... on Alfred Finnbogason: "Nothing has changed concerning Alfred at the moment, we presume he'll be back in February. I phoned him yesterday and we're happy." ... on Hoffenheim: "We looked at Hoffenheim in the first half of the season very intensely. The whole club works very well, they're near the top of the table for a reason. We'll analyse them again this week to be able to keep the three points here in Augsburg." ...on Julian Nagelsmann: "We have known each other for a while. But for me it is just a game like any other, regardless of who the other head coach on the sidelines is."
