Baum: "We were really solid defensively"

First Team 29.10.2017, 20:18
FCA came out as convincing victors in their 3-0 victory against Werder Bremen on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Manuel Baum was very satisfied with his team’s performance: “We were really solid defensively.” Michael Gregoritsch: “When you win 3-0 away from home, score two goals yourself and earn a fully deserved three points, it’s a near perfect day at the office. Werder put pressure on us shortly after the break, but then we put ourselves up by three. After that, Bremen gave up essentially. We’re really happy to have 15 points at this stage of the season - it’s been a great start.” Kevin Danso: “We should have won last week. We showed our quality today and proved that we can play a really good brand of football. However, things weren’t quite as easy as the result suggests.” Alfred Finnbogason: “We played patiently at the start of the game, and waited for our chances to strike. We did that to great effect, scoring two really important goals just before half time. We enjoyed ourselves today, but our heads will be fully turned to next week’s Leverkusen match from tomorrow onwards.” Philipp Max: “I’m really happy that I could get another assist and help the team to victory today. This win is just reward for all the hard work that we put in. We want things to continue in this manner. The game against Leverkusen is our next chance to put in a good performance.“ Daniel Baier: “The game was initially fairly well balanced, but we remained calm and didn’t allow them any clear cut chances. The two goals before the break put us on the right track. We had some more great opportunities from the counter attack in the second half to put things beyond all doubt. In general, it was a really good reaction to the loss against Hannover.” Manuel Baum: “We made some costly mistakes against Hannover which we managed to clean up today. We were really solid defensively. I’m really satisfied with the performance on the whole, even if we should have scored one or two more goals. We had a little lull shortly after the break, but we managed to come out of that unscathed and get another goal to make it 3-0.” Alexander Nouri: “We have to apologise to the fans for our performance today. We had a lot of possession, but we just weren’t determined enough. You have to do better defensively for the first two goals. We pushed forward a bit more in the second half, but then we conceded a third and that was it. We have to pick ourselves up and put all of our energy into this upcoming week of training ahead of the game against Frankfurt.”
