First Team 25.01.2019, 23:42
South Korea have lost their Asia Cup quarter-final against Qatar. Ja-Cheol Koo and Dong-Won Ji both came off the bench but were unable to prevent South Korea from slipping to a 1-0 defeat. The favourites for the match enjoyed more of the possession but were unable to capitalise on their dominance. A 77th minute free-kick was the closest Paulo bento’s side came to scoring as Jin-Su Kim’s set piece grazed the side netting. South Korea were then punished for not taking their chances as Abdulaziz Hatem scored from 28 metres out to give the underdogs a precious lead. South Korea did create one further chance to score as Ui-Jo Hwang’s goal was correctly disallowed by the Video Assistant referee in the closing stages. However, South Korea couldn’t get back into the match and exit the tournament at the quarter-final stage. Koo and Ji to return to Augsburg Koo came off the bench in the 74th minute while Ji was substituted into the match in the 82nd minute. The Korean duo will travel back to Augsburg in the forthcoming days.
