Academy product Noahkai Banks extends his contract until 2029
Been at FC Augsburg since the U10 age group
FC Augsburg have agreed on a contract extension with academy product Noakhai Banks. The young centre-back’s deal is now valid until 30th June 2029.
The 18-year-old’s career began at FCA’s academy, having initially joined the club’s U10 side. After playing for all of Augsburg’s youth sides, Banks made his Bundesliga debut in January 2025 against VfB Stuttgart. His first start then came two weeks later against 1. FC Heidenheim, with the German-American also starting the subsequent match against FC St. Pauli. The defender made eight Bundesliga appearances in the second half of last season, as well as featuring 12 times for the club’s U23s in the fourth division. Having already been capped for the United States U20 side, he was named on the standby list for the USMNT earlier this year.
Ströll: “A special story and a prime example”
“Noahkai Banks showed that he possesses lots of potential on his Bundesliga debut and in the second half of last season. He’s shown that he can succeed in professional football. His performances, especially at such a young age, have led to him catching the eye. We’re therefore really pleased that Noahkai has signed a long-term contract here at FCA. An academy product going into their 11th straight season with us is a special story and a prime example of how we want to operate,” said Michael Ströll, FC Augsburg CEO.
Noahkai Banks is excited about his future with the Fuggerstädter: “I got my first taste of professional football last season, which was really special. However, I’m hungry for more and I want to take the next steps in my development. The club has a clear plan for me and have given me some long-term backing. I’m looking forward to the next few years together.”
