Next on the agenda at the WWK ARENA is an exciting game, as Augsburg take on Bayern Munich on Saturday 19th October (15:30 CEST). Head coach Martin Schmidt speaks before the game about... ...the squad situation: André Hahn has started with some strength and conditioning training, Marco Richter is back to full fitness and has returned to team training. Daniel Baier is also progressing well; he’s taking part in full sessions again now. Michael Gregoritsch and Tin Jedvaj played two games during the week with their national teams and are now recovering. Ruben Vargas, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Frederik Jensen all still have one more game to play, but the entire squad should be back with us and ready to train by Thursday.” ...Jeffrey Gouweleeuw’s comeback: “Jeff returned to action in Lustenau and completed 60 minutes. We’ve been waiting to see how he would react, but he feels great and is now back in full team training. It won’t be long until he’s available for selection again.” ...pressure: “The fans are allowed to be critical. Are there any coaches that aren’t under pressure? There’s always going to be difficult periods; everyone at the club needs to work together to find a solution. It’s important that we don’t let it interfere with our work and that we stay focused. It’s up to us to start getting positive results.” ...their preparation for Saturday: “The past week has been very intense. We’ve had lots of important conversations, as well as the friendly match. The Lustenau game was important; we wanted to win and to be dominant so that we could start our second week of training on the right foot.” ...the game against Bayern: “Games like this are always special, but I’m really looking forward to it. If we don’t give Bayern too much respect then I’m sure we will get chances of our own. The game starts at 0-0 and we will fight right from the off.”
