Schmidt: “We’re just going to have to play our trump cards.”

First Team 20.09.2019, 09:05
After the home victory over Eintracht Frankfurt (2-1), winning them their first three points of the season, preparations have already begun for the next game away at SC Freiburg on Saturday 21st September (15:30 CEST). Head coach Martin Schmidt wants to continue picking up points, and speaks about... ...winning their last game: “Such a victory is of course a huge relief and can also be a real boost. But it doesn’t mean we can now sit back and relax, the hard work continues.” ...Raphael Framberger’s successful return from injury: “We’re absolutely delighted that he’s back. After he made a great impression in the game against Schaffhausen, there was no doubt in our minds that he was ready to start. But this is also the case for a number of players. Jan Morávek and Alfred Finnbogason both made their first starts of the season and instantly had good performances.” ...injuries: “Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Iago are gradually returning to team training and are already quite far along in their rehabilitation. Carlos Greuzo won’t be available for Saturday, and we won’t know about Daniel Baier until closer to the time. However, I’m sure that we can cope without them. We have a few options available to us and we’re just going to have to play our trump cards.” ...the game in Freiburg: “It’s not an easy place to come. The pitch is extremely wide, making it difficult to press them. At the same time it’s important to use the space to our benefit, particularly the space out wide. I’m confident that we will be able to exploit Freiburg’s weaknesses and make it an even game. We are going to Freiburg to take points home with us.”
