Richter: "We want to build on the last match"

First Team 24.11.2019, 11:44

In the 2-2 against Bayern Munich, Marco Richter scored the fastest goal, ever scored by an Augsburg player in the Bundesliga after just 27 seconds. Before the home game against Hertha BSC, the FCA offensive man spoke about his goal against the record champions and the duel with the ‘Alte Dame’.

Can you still remember what went on after the goal against Bayern?
I was totally pumped with adrenaline. These are moments of happiness that are hard to describe. My sister wasn’t even in her seat at the stadium when we took the lead.

Despite years of training in junior high performance centres, you're a street footballer at heart. You have something that you cannot learn, instinct.
My ex-coach Manuel Baum always said that to me and always encouraged me to play that way. Of course you have to do defensive work as a striker, but my coaches grant me s lot of freedom, because they know where my strengths lie.

We can still make up ground before the winter break.

The start of the season was really tough: FCA have played against many of the top teams so far.
Yes that's true. Now we have games against Berlin, Cologne, Mainz and Dusseldorf - so we can make up some ground before the winter break. We made a good start against Paderborn. We hope that we will be able to build on that as well.

Now Hertha BSC are coming to the WWK ARENA and with a win you could continue to climb up the table.
Hertha are an unpredictable team that won’t make things easy for us. They have a high quality squad and have strengthened well with Eduard Löwen and Dodi Lukebakio. Nevertheless, I think we can grab a win on Sunday. We have to win, no matter how.
