Niederlechner: "We want to continue growing together as a team"

First Team 27.08.2019, 17:32
FCA picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with 1. FC Union Berlin last week, but they are still waiting for their first win. Augsburg play away at Bremen on Sunday, 1st September at 15:30 CEST. Augsburg striker Florian Niederlechner is already looking forward to his next game in red, green and white. With a goal against Dortmund and a good assist against Union Berlin, Florian Niederlechner has proved in both games of the new season how dangerous he can be in the final third. “For me personally, the start of my FCA career has obviously been great,” said Niederlechner. “The team and the whole coaching staff have given me enormous self-confidence since day one and I want to repay them with good performances. On Saturday I want my team to pick up our first win.” In addition to Niederlechner, the home game against Union Berlin saw five other new signings start. Augsburg did a lot of business during the summer transfer window, and the aim for the next few days is to let the team get to know each other. “We now have a seriously good squad”, emphasised the forward, “The game against Union was a good step forward, now we need to continue growing together as a team.” “The first win in Bremen” Niederlechner wants to lead the team to victory against SV Werder Bremen, but he also hopes for support from his returning teammate. “I’m incredibly happy that Alfred Finnbogason is fit again. He is an outstanding striker. I always look forward to training with him and I hope we'll play together on the pitch as many times as possible too." Augsburg want to hit the Werder hard with fast counter-attacking and hopefully take all three points back to the WWK Arena. After Matchday 3 comes the international break, but Niederlechner is feeling positive about it. “I am very optimistic, especially with the last couple of signings that the squad will be able to produce amazing performances in future. The last few new signings arrived late in the window, so the international break is coming at a good time. But of course we want to get a victory on Sunday first.”
