Mönchengladbach match reaction

A disappointing finish to the game for Augsburg – Manuel Baum saw his side concede an equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time to prevent them from travelling back to Augsburg with all three points. Read all the post-match reaction here. Paul Verhaegh: “Obviously we are all absolutely gutted to have conceded a goal in the 94th minute. It feels like a defeat. A win would have been a huge step for us. We played very well but you can’t restrict Gladbach for the whole 90 minutes with the quality they have. We needed to get that second goal.” Halil Altintop: “The equaliser so close to the end is of course an extremely bitter pill to swallow but heads up, we go on. This point could be the one that keeps us up at the end of the season.” Alfred Finnbogason: “I don’t know what I can say so soon after the final whistle. We had a brilliant plan and executed it for 93 minutes. Then we let it slip in the last minute and failed to defend their final attack.” Manuel Baum: “We are certainly frustrated not to have come away with all three points given how the game went but we probably would have been happy with a point before this match. My overall feeling is one of satisfaction with our performance which many thought we were not capable of doing. That shows us that can also pick up points in our last two matches against Dortmund and Hoffenheim.” Dieter Hecking: “We’re definitely glad to have got the late equaliser. Things didn’t go according to plan and we were not consistent enough with our game. Augsburg limited us to few opportunities after they got the goal and we couldn’t find any gaps. We can be pleased that we didn’t concede a second as that meant we were able to level things up.”
