FCA strengthen their sporting management

Having secured safety for the 12th successive season, FC Augsburg are now planning for their 13th consecutive campaign in the top flight. The board have decided to hire Marinko Jurendic as the club’s sporting director as they look to establish the best possible setup for the future.schieden, mit Marinko Jurendic einen Sportdirektor beim FC Augsburg zu installieren.

The 45-year-old from Switzerland joins Augsburg from FC Zürich. He helped the Swiss side win the league in 2022 with a young team full of academy players in his role as sporting director and member of the board, whilst also working with the academy too. Jurendic has signed a contract valid until 30th June 2026 with FCA.

“Marinko Jurendic meets all the requirements we had for someone to strengthen our sporting management. He’s been successful as a sporting director and brings with him a lot of qualifications and experience from his playing career, time as a coach and work with the national team,” said Stefan Reuter, board member for sport at FCA. Jurendic will be responsible for everything to do with the first team, as well as the pathway for academy players.

“I’m really looking forward to working for FC Augsburg. I’m excited to be able to work in a team that will try to help shape FCA’s future in the Bundesliga. My conversations with the club were extremely productive and were shaped by mutual respect. I believe that together we can continue to develop FCA step by step and also allow our academy players to come to the fore more,” said Marinko Jurendic, who will officially join FCA on 1st August after a transition period in Zürich.

Heinz Moser joins FCA as new Head of Development

Heinz Moser has also joined the club as Head of Development. The 55-year-old from Switzerland, who worked as a youth coach for his nation over a 15-year period, also arrives from FC Zürich, where he has been doing the same job. Moser enjoyed a lengthy playing career in Switzerland, appearing in almost 500 professional games.

“Heinz Moser has proven his expertise whilst working with academies. We’re pleased that he will be joining FCA together with Marinko Jurendic and that we will benefit from his skills and experience. I’m certain that we will be able to offer our own youngsters a clearer pathway and integrate the Paul Renz academy more together with our staff there,” added Stefan Reuter.
