Kade: “Delighted with the three points”

Reaction to the 1-0 win against Hamburg

First Team 22.11.2025, 19:07

Anton Kade’s goal secured a 1-0 victory for FC Augsburg over Hamburger SV. We gathered the post-match reaction from the WWK ARENA.

Anton Kade: “We’re simply delighted to have taken all three points today. The pressure was definitely there, but we didn’t let it distract us because the atmosphere in the squad has been really positive for weeks. That’s exactly what carries you through matches like this. Of course, we should have made better use of our chances, but ultimately what counts is that we moved ahead of HSV. That was our aim going into the game, and we achieved it. We’ll take that momentum with us to Hoffenheim.”

Fabian Rieder: “We put in a good performance today and finally rewarded ourselves with three points. We’re over the moon and enjoying the feeling – but from tomorrow the focus turns straight to what’s next. We’ve had some intense weeks behind us, and the ones ahead will be demanding too. The whole team is fully committed, and a win like this naturally gives you confidence and a lift. Now it’s about keeping that going.”

Finn Dahmen: “The win was hugely important and fully deserved. We played well in the first 25 minutes and should have scored one or two goals in that spell. After that, the game became more balanced, with chances for both sides. We put a lot of hard work in, and it feels good to be rewarded for it. Our defensive work is the foundation – and we executed that really well today; everyone threw themselves into every challenge like madmen. With that attitude, we can also take three points in Hoffenheim.”

Sandro Wagner: “We’re absolutely delighted. We had set ourselves a lot of goals over the past few days and wanted to win at home again, to give the fans an enjoyable afternoon. You could sense the level of expectation, and I’m pleased for the team that they got their reward. The motto of the week was to overtake HSV – and we managed that. We want to carry this momentum forward and pick up as many points as we can before Christmas.”

Merlin Polzin (Hamburger SV head coach): “We knew that FCA would be a side strong on the ball – and yet we failed to implement certain non-negotiables at the start. The half-time break was necessary to regroup. After that, we came out with energy and had the chance to take the lead. Once we were more stable in the game and it looked like ending level, we conceded from a situation where we made avoidable mistakes – and we have to learn from that.”
