Both clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the transfer. “After recovering from my long-term injury, I’m pleased I have been able to get closer to first team action. I’m also pleased to have been in the right surroundings to develop over the last couple of years. I would like to thank FC Augsburg for making a permanent transfer to Carl Zeiss Jena possible and I hope to become a prolific goalscorer for Jena in the near future,” said a delighted Julian Günther-Schmidt after the transfer was agreed. “We wish Julian all of the best of luck for the future. Most of all, we hope he will find his best form once more after battling back from injury. We hope he enjoys success in a Carl Zeiss Jena shirt.” Julian Günther-Schmidt made four Bundesliga appearances for FCA in the 2016/17 season whilst also making a DFB-Pokal appearance off the bench. The striker also made 52 Regionalliga Bayern appearances for the Fuggerstädter’s U23s side, scoring 19 goals.
