Jonathan Schmid moves to Freiburg

After three years and 78 Bundesliga games for FC Augsburg, Jonathan Schmid has moved to SC Freiburg. The 28-year-old Frenchman, whose contract ran until 2020, will move to SC Freiburg on the 1st July. Both teams have agreed on an undisclosed fee. “My son in the next few months will start school and therefore we decided as a family, to move back to our hometown,” said Jonathan Schmid on his transfer. “I felt very comfortable at FC Augsburg but it is time to move nearer to Alsace. I am grateful that FCA have allowed me to make the move.” “We thank Jonathan Schmid for his time here for the last few years. Johnny is a family man and they are the reason for his move. His contract was going to expire next summer and we were unable to agree on a new one and so we came to a solution that satisfied everyone,” said Stefan Reuter, sporting director of FCA.
