Iago: “I want to develop myself even further at FCA”

The new signing made his debut in FCA’s 3-0 loss to Leverkusen last time out after recovering from a knee injury, now new signing Iago is ready to kick-start his career in Germany. Iago might have perhaps imagined the start to his career in Germany a little differently, after picking up a knee injury in pre-season and requiring an operation. He said it has been ‘the hardest moment’ of his career to date. However, he has been completely focussed on his rehabilitation in order to “get back on the pitch as quickly as possible”. The 22-year-old successfully made his first start for the club in the defeat against Leverkusen, lining up in the defence rather than his more comfortable left midfielder position. No problem, he says, “I’ve always enjoyed bombing up and down the flanks.” A new challenge in the Bundesliga Iago made the decision to move to Augsburg in the summer in order to take the next step in his career and it will be ‘a new challenge’, living without his friends and family. Iago wants to develop himself even further in the Bundesliga, and help his new team as much as he possibly can. He describes his new home town Augsburg as a “very quiet, but wonderful city”. In his time off he likes to either spend time with friends or rest so that he is prepared for training. He also tries to work as hard as he can to learn German because he is finding it quite difficult at the moment to communicate with his teammates. “If I put enough work in, I’ll be able to learn quickly,” Iago claims. Then his time at FCA can really get going.
