Herrlich: "Ärgerlich, wie die Tore gefallen sind"

Herrlich: “It’s frustrating the way we conceded“

Post-match reactions after Hertha

First Team 07.11.2020, 19:00

FCA had an afternoon to forget against Hertha BSC as they lost 3-0. “We didn’t play well overall today so Hertha deserved to win,” summed up Heiko Herrlich.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “Even though we were above Hertha in the table before the game, we knew how strong a side they are. They deservedly won today. We were unlucky not to go ahead in the first half after André’s goal was narrowly ruled out for offside. It wasn’t our day today, however nobody expected this start to the season. We had a difficult run of fixtures and can be happy with the points we have on the board.”

Florian Niederlechner: “It wasn’t a good performance by us. It was really tough to come back from going 2-0 down. The first goal was unlucky and both sides had as many chances as each other in the first half. We won’t be setback by this defeat and we are still in a good place after the seventh matchday.”

Felix Uduokhai: “My call-up to the national team wasn’t on my mind during the game; my focus was solely on Hertha. I’m disappointed with the defeat and especially the way the game went. We had a goal narrowly ruled out for offside just before the break and then conceded almost immediately after. I should have cleared the ball better for the penalty. I’m sorry to the team and I hope Jhon Cordoba isn’t badly injured. I only had eyes on the ball and didn’t see him. We tried all we could after going 2-0 down but couldn’t find a goal to get us back into the game. Overall, Hertha deserved to win, even though their third goal was very frustrating."

Heiko Herrlich: “It wasn’t a good performance from us today. It took us 20 minutes to have our first dangerous moment in the final third. Our defending was okay in the first half but we lost possession too easily. It was frustrating the way we conceded. We thought we’d made it 1-0 before their penalty, however it was just offside. This could have given us some real momentum. We lost the ball too easily for their second goal. Nevertheless, we carried on and had one big chance to get back into the game. We didn’t play well overall today so Hertha deserved to win.”

Bruno Labbadia: “It was a great performance by my team. Augsburg are a well-organised side so you need to be patient against them. We did well and didn’t let them control the game at all. We carried on what we’ve done well in recent weeks and we’re really pleased to have won the game.”
