Marcel Heller: "Anything is possible at FCA!"
FC Augsburg acquired the services of 31-year-old Marcel Heller on a free transfer from SV Darmstadt 98 on Wednesday on a two year contract until June 30 2019. Following the arrivals of Rani Khedira and Fabian Giefer, Heller becomes the third new signing of the summer to the WWK Arean. FCA spoke to Heller after he put pen to paper to discuss a range of topics.
FCA: Marcel, how happy are you to have signed for FCA?
Heller: I feel great and am very happy that I will get a chance to play again in the Bundesliga. There is no better feeling. I am very excited about the new challenge here at Augsburg and I’m ready to get going on Monday.
FCA: You had offers from other clubs in the country, how come you chose FCA?
Heller: FCA have shown in recent years that they know how to get results in this division and they have picked up some good results. The club showed a lot of interest in me so I made the choice to move here. I dreamed of being able to keep playing in the Bundesliga and now I’m excited for this new challenge.
FCA: Where do you see your strengths on the pitch?
Heller: My speed is my biggest asset, and hopefully I can put that to good use in Augsburg. I’m someone who always gives everything and never gives up. It doesn’t matter what the score is or the situation in the game, I always want to be successful and I love to get involved.
FCA: Augsburg are going into their seventh season in the Bundesliga. What are your personal goals and your goals with the team?
Heller: The success of the club is obviously the most important. My goal is to make sure Augsburg are playing Bundesliga football in the next few seasons. Last season was so tight because the promoted sides were so good but anything is possible at this club and I am convinced we can continue to celebrate success together in the future.
