Gregoritsch: "We want our first home win of the season!"

First Team 27.09.2018, 18:18
After a sensational performance in Munich, which saw Felix Götze score late on in a 1-1 draw, FC Augsburg now turn their attentions to their home match with SC Freiburg in the WWK Arena on Sunday, 30th September (18:00 CEST). FCA striker Michael Gregoritsch is looking forward to the match and wants to help secure Augsburg’s first home victory of the season. In their mid-week Bundesliga clash, FC Augsburg secured a memorable 1-1 draw away at defending champions FC Bayern München. FCA are the first team who have been able to take points off Bayern so far this season and FCA striker Michael Gregoritsch was involved in helping to secure a point in the Allianz Arena. However, the Austrian played in an unusual position: “I played in a more defensive role on Tuesday night. My job was to disrupt the two holding midfielders from Bayern. When we won the ball, I was then able to play in Andre Hahn and Caiuby from deep so that they could unlock the Bayern defence and attack the penalty area. Although I wasn’t involved in as many attacking moves as usual, this was worthwhile as we came out of the match with a point.” Ahead of Sunday’s home clash with SC Freiburg, Gregoritsch is confident that the team can get a positive result. “Freiburg play an attractive style of football and they were able to keep their best players from last season. They have also made some good signings and strengthened their squad. It is often the case that teams who take points off Bayern go on to lose their next match, but I am sure that the team will give everything they have to ensure this won’t happen to us. With our fans behind us, we want to win at home for the first time this season.”
