Attacker speaks ahead of the Dortmund game
Michael Gregoritsch scored the important second goal in the 3-1 win over 1. FC Union Berlin. Ahead of the home game against Borussia Dortmund, the attacker spoke about the upcoming fixture, the high quality in the Augsburg squad and the return of fans.
Michael Gregoritsch’s first FCA goal came on 19th September 2017. The Austrian scored the only goal of the game against RB Leipzig after just four minutes. Three years later to the day, he was back in the goals – heading in an Iago cross to make it 2-1 in Berlin.
“I was really pleased, because I knew it could be a decisive goal,” stated the attacker. He only found out later that his first FCA goal came exactly three years ago to the day, but “perhaps it was a good sign,” said Gregoritsch, who is highly motivated after returning from Schalke. “I am desperate to show that last year wasn’t what I and the fans should expect from me.”
FCA got off to a great start to the new season with the win at Union. “We were very disciplined and didn’t let them have many chances,” summarised Gregoristch. “The depth we have up front is the best since I’ve been here,” commented the 26-year-old. “Everybody has to impress every week. We are all supportive of one another, but we all want to play of course.”
Borussia Dortmund will visit the WWK Arena on Saturday (26th September, 15:30 CEST). “We can’t play with fear – we need to be confident,” demanded Gregoritsch. “If we do this, we can get something against Dortmund.” FCA will have fans back in the stadium again, something which Gregoritsch can’t wait for: “We can hardly wait for Saturday’s game.”
