Gregoritsch: “We played really well today”
Post match reaction after the 3-1 win over Gladbach
FC Augsburg picked up a deserved 3-1 home victory over FC Augsburg on the penultimate weekend of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. Michael Gregoritsch bagged a brace, while substitute Robin Fellhauer also got on the scoresheet. Here is the post-match reaction.
Robin Fellhauer: “I feel really at home in Augsburg and I’m happy that I’ve been given a lot of game time this season. It makes it even better that I’ve been able to help the team with my performances. We’re very solid at the moment and have been clinical in front of goal. The fans give us incredible support. We’ve hit a good run of form at exactly the right time, meaning that we’ve been able to make the fans happy again.”
Michael Gregoritsch: “We played really well today, particularly without the ball, so we fully deserved such a comfortable win. I feel valued at this club, and the coach puts a lot of trust in me, too. That means I really enjoy playing football here – and you never lose that goalscoring instinct. It’s still part of my game. Overall, I’m very happy with how we’re doing right now. Now, we’ve got one more game ahead of us, and we want to end the season with a win.”
Mert Kömür: “That was such an enjoyable game today – great fans, great weather and a win to cap it all off. It’s easy to forget how tough the match was. There are always ups and downs in football. Sometimes you don’t play and sometimes you do. It’s vital that you keep working hard and wait for your opportunity. Moments like this are the reward for that hard work. We now want to get another victory on the board in our final game against Union.”
Manuel Baum (FC Augsburg head coach): “Firstly, I’d like to thank our fans, because they’ve given us incredible support all season. It’s even better that we were able to repay them today. Gladbach have a huge amount of quality, so you need to be able to defend. The way we did that as a team was so impressive. Obviously, there’s still room to improve, as there were one or two situations that we maybe could have exploited better. Overall, though, that was a successful and emotional final home game of the season.”
Eugen Polanski (Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach): “I’d like to congratulate the opponent on a deserved victory. We were too easy to play against for long periods – and, in the Bundesliga, that means you get punished clinically. We seemed in control at the start but then went 2-0 down in the blink of an eye. We were slightly better in periods after the break but still ended up conceding a third goal. We had the same game plan as we did against Dortmund last time out, but didn’t manage to execute it well enough on the pitch today.”
