Uchenna Ogundu bolsters FCA
Pacey and dynamic attacker
The FC Augsburg squad has been strengthened on deadline day via the acquisition of Nigerian forward Uchenna Ogundu. The 19-year-old joins from Turkish top-flight club Alanyaspor, signing a long-term contract until 30th June 2031. The two clubs have agreed that transfer details shall remain undisclosed.
In Ogundu, FCA have signed a talented and speedy attacking player. He can operate in a centre-forward role as well as in offensive midfield or on either wing. The 19-year-old joined Turkish club Sanliurfaspor (19 competitive appearances, six goals) in August 2024 from the Diamond Football Academy, a developer of talents in his home country of Nigeria. A move to Alanyaspor of the Süper Lig followed at the start of the current campaign. Across 17 league appearances, he scored and assisted twice each, also featuring thrice in cup competition, scoring a further goal.
FCA sporting director Benni Weber: “We are really pleased that Uchenna has decided to come to FCA. His speed, dynamism, and ability to run in behind suit us perfectly and add variation to our game.”
Uchenna Ogundu: “It is a great feeling to have completed the transfer. FC Augsburg offer me the chance to play in one of the best leagues in the world. My aim is to settle in quickly, learn a lot and bring my qualities onto the pitch. I can hardly wait to play at the WWK ARENA for the first time and experience the atmosphere.”
Ogundu will don the number 39 shirt with FCA.
