FC Augsburg have secured the services of Ryota Onoda. The 18-year-old forward moves to the Fuggerstädter from the college team of Japanese top-flight club Cerezo Osaka in the J.League. The striker has signed a contract with FCA until 2030.

“Ryota Onoda spent a week with us on trial and made an impression. In the final U23 friendly, he produced a convincing display, not just because of the four goals he scored. He has plenty of talent and we’re convinced he can take the next steps in his development in this environment,” said sporting director Benni Weber.

Ryota Onoda is delighted to have joined FCA: “It has always been my dream to play in Germany and, one day, make the step up to the Bundesliga. That’s why I’m very happy and proud to be an FC Augsburg player. The professional environment at the Paul-Renz-Akademie, the training conditions and the support are ideal for helping me develop as a person and as a footballer. I’m very grateful to FCA for this opportunity.”
