Rodrigo Ribeiro will continue to pull on the FC Augsburg shirt going forward. FCA have exercised the purchase option agreed as part of the loan deal with Sporting Lisbon and signed the 21-year-old Portuguese forward on a long-term contract until 2031.

Ribeiro made 14 appearances for FCA during the second half of the season, scoring twice – in the 3-2 win away at Wolfsburg and the 2-0 home victory over 1. FC Köln. The striker also made his debut for Portugal’s U21 national team in March.

“Rodrigo has made a very positive impression over the past few months and shown the potential he possesses. He has also impressed us as a person and fits in extremely well at FCA with his character and attitude. We’re delighted to be continuing this journey together,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber. “With his pace, his ability to run in behind and his quality in front of goal, Rodrigo brings attributes that suit the way we want to play. At the same time, his development reflects our approach of identifying, developing and helping young talent progress.”

Rodrigo Ribeiro said: “I’m very happy to be able to continue playing for FC Augsburg. I settled in quickly here and have felt at home from day one, at the club, within the squad and in the city. The last few months have helped me a lot in my development, and I want to build on that next season.”
