FCA try out footgolf

First Team 11.09.2018, 12:02
During the international break, FC Augsburg took part in a very unique training session: a round of footgolf in Rehling just north of Augsburg. The players were put in mixed teams to try out the new, popular sport. There was an unusual training session in the FCA schedule to start the new week: footgolf. The entire squad, except for those on international duty, participated in the session in Rehling. The coaching team also took part as the squad was split into four groups to compete against each other. Footgolf involves players kicking a football into holes on a course, replacing the traditional golf club and golf ball. There are eighteen holes for the players to take on and the winner is the player who uses the fewest shots across the round. There was a twist for the players though as coach Manuel Baum made things harder: the FCA players had to use their weaker foot for each shot.  The players ‘trained’ for around two hours on the course before they took part in a running session to conclude the afternoon. The winning team ended their round with 67 shots after the eighteen holes and featured captain Daniel Baier, Konstantinos Stafylidis, Jonathon Schmid and goalkeeper Fabian Giefer, who proved to be the footgolf expert for the team.
