FC Augsburg has extended Captain Daniel Baier's contract, which expires at the end of the season, by another year until June 30th 2021. The longest-serving first team player, who has been wearing the FCA jersey since 2008, including a half year out, will stay with the squad for another year and will go into his 13th season with the red-green-whites in the next coming season. This news was announced on Monday evening at the FCA Sponsors New Year's Reception.

“I have always emphasised that I would like to continue playing as long as it’s still fun for me and I can help the team. I feel really good physically and I continue to enjoy playing with this team and this club every day, so it was clear to me that I wanted to stay on. I just want to continue writing this great story with the FCA,”said Daniel Baier.

“The fact that a player has played for a club for this long is remarkable these days. Daniel Baier is ingrained in our DNA and has shaped our game in recent years. We are therefore pleased that we can continue on the same path,”said Stefan Reuter,  FCA sporting director. "With his experience, his great physical condition and his footballing class, Daniel Baier is very good for our team and he helps out with many of our younger players."
