FCA kick-off 2020/21 season with trip to FC Union Berlin
The Deutsche Fußball-Liga (DFL) announced the fixture list for the 2020/21 season at midday on Friday. FC Augsburg will start the new campaign with an away fixture for the third consecutive season, this year with a visit to FC Union Berlin (18th – 21st September).
The first home game of the season will take place the following weekend (25th – 28th September) as we welcome last season’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund to the WWK ARENA. After that, FCA will travel to VfL Wolfsburg (2nd – 4th October), before RB Leipzig visit Augsburg (16th – 19th October).
Due to the late start to the season, 2020 will culminate with matchday 13 with Eintracht Frankfurt the visitors (18th – 21st December). 2021 will kick-off just two weeks later with FCA visiting 1. FC Köln (2nd – 4th of January), before FC Bayern make the short journey to Augsburg to bring the first half of the season to a close (19th – 20th of January). FCA will also take on the record-holding champions in the last game of the season, which will take place on Saturday 22nd May at 3:30pm CET.
“We’re looking forward to the upcoming fixtures and we’ll use the pre-season training to get the players in the best possible condition for the opening games,” says FCA head coach Heiko Herrlich. “It goes without saying that we want to start on the front foot to kick-off a successful season.”
