Dahmen: "Huge credit has to go to the entire team"

Match reaction following the 2-1 win away at Bayern München

First Team 24.01.2026, 19:35

"Big points" for FC Augsburg, as they handed league leaders Bayern München their first Bundesliga loss of the season, coming from a goal down to win 2-1. Here are their reactions to the game in Munich.

Robin Fellhauer: “We came up with a very clear plan, which it makes it all the nicer that it worked out today. It was the sheer will of every single player that carried us. Even after going behind, we kept going and never stopped believing in ourselves. We’re allowed to enjoy what we’ve achieved today. Starting tomorrow, our focus shifts towards the next game, as we fully concentrate on our preparations for St. Pauli.”

Alexis Claude-Maurice: “It was far from easy, but we absolutely believed that we could get over the line. We knew we had to stick together as a team and wait patiently for our chances – and that’s exactly what we did. We knew how important the three points were for us, and we’re just so delighted to be taking them back to Augsburg. This is exactly how we need to carry on next week.”

Keven Schlotterbeck: “At the moment, you can’t be anything other than proud of the team. We played our way and earned this achievement through hard work. At the same time, we know exactly where we stand – we want and need to keep picking up points. This win has given us extra confidence, and we’ll take that momentum into the next match.”

Arthur Chaves: “I’m absolutely over the moon and can hardly put my feelings into words. I’ve been in Augsburg for just under two days, and we go and win in Munich straight away! It feels like a fairy tale. There was huge pressure out on the pitch, but even at half time, we felt that something was possible for us as a team today. It’s simply incredible and once again shows me how fantastic it is to start this new challenge with FCA.”

Han-Noah Massengo: “It was a tough game, but we gave everything, and now we’re just so happy. We’ve taken three points here – that’s obviously something very special. Scoring a goal feels great too, but above all it was a proper team performance. We wanted to stay compact and be brave going forward whenever the chance arose, and that’s exactly what we managed to do today.”

Finn Dahmen: “After a few matches where things didn’t go our way, we still travelled to Munich with courage and a belief that we could leave with something. You could see that from the very first minute. Our performance was really strong. Many teams have fallen apart here in Munich after going behind – but not us today. We played with real freedom and the courage to take something from this game. Our belief grew minute by minute. Huge credit has to go to the entire team. This victory gives us a very good feeling for the weeks ahead.”

Manuel Baum: “We defended very well today. But it was also important for us not just to sit deep, but to be active and get at them. Especially in the second half, we managed to defend up and down the pitch and repeatedly disrupt Bayern’s rhythm. I think the team grew into the game and increasingly believed that we could win it. We achieved that, and with a bit more ruthlessness, we might even have scored one or two more goals in the end.”

Vincent Kompany: “First of all, congratulations to FC Augsburg. The Bundesliga is not an easy league – we saw that again today. In the first half, we were solid, perhaps not incredibly creative, but overall we were in control. Then we threw away a good position, and towards the end we no longer had enough energy. Augsburg did an excellent job, especially in the second half. Still, we fought until the very end. That’s football. Now it’s all about showing the right reaction.”
