Baum: "We want the three points"

First Team 26.01.2017, 14:10
Despite losing the first fixture of the calendar year 2-0 against TSG Hoffenheim, head coach Manuel Baum is feeling optimistic about this Saturday's game against VfL Wolfsburg (15:30 CET). "We want to take the three points back to Augsburg on Saturday." The team want to build on their first half performance against Hoffenheim. "We need to play well for the full 90 minutes, not just during the first half. We didn't convert our chances against Hoffenheim and we want to change that," said the head coach. Manuel Baum is expecting Wolfsburg to adopt a slightly different style of play after making various changes to their squad over the winter break. "We want to be prepared for every possibility." Ja-Cheol Koo is also aware that VfL Wolfsburg have been playing well lately and have even won their last three consecutive matches. "A win would be very important for our confidence. The team worked really hard at the training camp in Marbella and want to implement what we have learnt in matches," he said. Paul Verhaegh, Jonathan Schmid and Dominik Kohr have all been absent from training as they are suffering from the flu. Manuel Baum is still unsure whether the three players will be able to feature on Saturday. "We can't sit here and complain about it. We will have to make the best out of the situation," said Manuel Baum. Raúl Bobadilla could play on Saturday, however. "Raúl's fitness levels are continuously improving and he is edging closer to making his comeback. Philipp Max will most likely replace the suspended Kostas Stafylidis in defence."
