Baum: “We have to learn from this”

First Team 03.03.2018, 21:55
“We have to learn from this,” said Manuel Baum after his team fell to Hoffenheim 2-0 at home. Read on for all the reaction to the game. Martin Hinteregger: “We couldn’t get to grips with them today. We didn’t win enough challenges and didn’t do enough going forward. That was the theme throughout the whole game. We deserved to lose.” Daniel Baier: “I think that we really dug in today, but we just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal. We knew that TSG would be strong on the counter attack and we just lost all momentum after they scored. It’s a shame that we couldn’t get a single goal.” Marwin Hitz: “We only created a few chances and became unsettled after we conceded the first goal. After the second goal, the air was really sucked out of us. There’s a bit of a cushion between us and the bottom of the table, but we can’t rest on our laurels. 32 points isn’t enough just yet.” Manuel Baum: “Both teams cancelled each other out in the first half to an extent. It was a shame that we couldn’t get to half time with the score still at 0-0. The first goal came from nothing, as we had more numbers in our box. In general, we just weren’t good enough at keeping the ball. We have to learn from this. After we went down by two, things naturally became harder. I never got the feeling that we had enough conviction to pull it back.” Julian Nagelsmann: “We’re very happy to have won against an opponent that have been playing well this season. They’re very good physically and got some good things going down the wings from time to time, so it was important that we won the ball back consistently to give ourselves room to hit them on the counter. We clearly had the better chances, so this win was deserved and gives us a lot of confidence going forward.”
