Baum: "I'm happy with the point and the performance"

First Team 27.02.2018, 01:32
After the 1-1 draw to Borussia Dortmund on Monday night, FCA head coach Manuel Baum praised his team highly: "We stayed aggressive and fully deserved our point." Read on for all the reaction to the game. Philipp Max: "We showed great enthusiasm today, after two defeats in a row we wanted to give everything we had to get something from the game. It wasn’t an easy situation for us, because on top of our injuries we were missing Daniel Baier through suspension. Then we went behind, but we showed great character to come back and get a deserved point." Kevin Danso: "It was a really good game on our part, we took our chances to break forward well, created lots of opportunities and took advantage at the right time. It also says a lot about us as the away team that we had more shots on goal than Dortmund." Michael Gregoritsch: "We knew BVB are really dangerous on the counter, and we defended against them very well – apart from on that one occasion when they scored. All in all we played really well and deserved the point. After two consecutive defeats you might have expected us to be timid away to Dortmund, but we weren’t." Jonathan Schmid: “We showed a lot of character to come back from the deficit. We played really well and we’re going back home very satisfied with out point.” Manuel Baum: “We went in to the game wanting to truly play as a team. And we did that. We defended extremely well for the whole 90 minutes with the exception of that one counter attack that led to the goal. We also weren’t afraid to be ambitious going forward. As the game progressed, I feared that we might rue missing some of the chances that we had, but we stayed at it and managed to earn a point that we fully deserved. I’m really happy with the point and our performance.” Peter Stöger: “I’m really not happy with how things went tonight. We played well in the lead up to our opener, but then we had to do better to keep them under pressure. But we didn’t have enough desire going forward and it showed. We knew that FCA would try everything in the second half to get an equaliser, and we were punished. It’s a real shame, but when you don’t give maximum effort, when you lack passion, then you can’t say the draw wasn’t the correct result.”
