Asia Cup: South Korea reach the Quarter-finals

FCA players Ja-Cheol Koo and Dong-Won Ji have successfully reached the quarter finals of the Asia Cup. South Korea beat Bahrain 2-1 in extra-time in order to get through the knockout round. Portuguese head coach Paulo Bento and his South Korea team struggled past Bahrain at the Rashid stadium. Although South Korea had over 70% possession, the Bahrain defence stood strong and only allowed two shots on goal – both resulting in goals. Shortly before half-time, HSV player Hee-Chang Hwan scored, placing the ball past goalkeeper Saye Shubbar Alawi to make it 1-0. In the 77th minute, Bahrain scored an equaliser through Mohamed Al-Romaihi. The winner was scored by Jin-Su Kim in the 107th minute in extra-time. Third game of the tournament for Ji Although Don-Won Ji was substituted in the 80th minute of the game, there was no place on the pitch for Ja-Cheol Koo. By getting to the quarter-finals, the two players will continue to miss FC Augsburg’s Bundesliga games. South Korea will play against the winners of Qatar and Iraq on Friday, January 25th.
