Arne Maier joins Újpest FC
Following 118 competitive appearances for FCA
Arne Maier moves with immediate effect to join Hungarian top-flight club Újpest FC. The two clubs have agreed that transfer details shall remain undisclosed.
The 27-year-old midfielder wore the red, green, and white shirt since the 2021/22 season. He made 118 competitive appearances for FCA during this period, scoring a total of 10 goals. Maier will link up at Újpest with Pal Dardai, who was appointed head of football at the Hungarian capital club in December 2025. They previously worked together at Hertha BSC.
“After open discussions, we have reached an agreement. Arne had already expressed a desire to explore new sporting perspectives and we have found a solution which suits all parties. We thank Arne for his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future”, said sporting director Benni Weber.
“My time in Augsburg was a really formative stage of my career. I was supported well from the off and got to experience some special moments with these fans, which I will never forget. I am so grateful for these memories and experiences and wish the club all the best for the future”, said Arne Maier.
