Wagner: “We want back-to-back wins”
Away against Hoffenheim
FC Augsburg travel to TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CET) looking to build on their recent victory over HSV.
Matchday 12 brings a tough test against the Bundesliga’s seventh-placed side, who currently have twice as many points as the Fuggerstädter. “It’s going to be a very difficult away game for us,” said head coach Sandro Wagner, who turns 38 on Saturday. “We want back-to-back wins – that’s something we haven’t managed yet this season.”
Wagner is optimistic ahead of the trip to Sinsheim: “We’ve worked with great focus over the past few days.” He knows the TSG well, having made 42 Bundesliga appearances and scored 15 goals for the club as a player. “They’ve started the season really well, play proactive football and have the momentum on their side. We need to nullify their strengths and bring our own qualities into the game.”
Schlotterbeck suspended
FCA will be without captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and defender Keven Schlotterbeck, who is serving a one-match suspension after his red card against Hamburg. On a positive note, Kristijan Jakić is available again after recovering from an ankle injury.
Around 1,100 supporters will make the trip to Sinsheim to back the team.
