Samuel Essende handed four-match ban
Sent off in Stuttgart
Following individual judgement proceedings and an indictment by the DFB’s Control Committee, the DFB has imposed a ban of four league matches on Samuel Essende for dangerous foul play.
The FCA striker was sent off in the 12th minute in the away game at VfB Stuttgart for a foul on Angelo Stiller following VAR intervention. As Stiller was injured and Essende had already been shown a red card against 1. FSV Mainz 05 earlier this season, his ban was increased by two more games.
Samuel Essende found Angelo Stiller after the final whistle to apologise to him and wish him a speedy recovery. Both the player and FC Augsburg agreed to the legally binding judgement.
Essende will therefore not only miss FC Augsburg’s final game of the season on Saturday, 17th May (15:30 CEST) against 1. FC Union Berlin, but also the opening three league fixtures of next season.
