Richter scores again for Germany U21s

Marco Richter had his hand in another German win in the Euro U21 Championship. Meanwhile, Kevin Danso and Austria fell to defeat against the Netherlands. With three goals and two assists, Marco Richter is enjoying his EURO U21 campaign so far. Richter was amongst the goals once again in the second game of Germany’s tournament as they defeated Serbia 6-1. The Augsburg man latched on to a great pass from Levin Öztunali to dink the ball over Serbian goalkeeper Boris Radunovic. In the 30th minute, Richter showed his quality again as he turned provider for Luca Waldschmidt. Some smart interplay between the German side finished with a nice ball from Richter, which Waldschmidt finished to double the lead. Important win against Serbia After 90 minutes, the ball had found the net on seven occasions. Through Waldschmidt’s hat-trick, Mahmoud Dahoud’s 18-yard effort and a last minute goal from Arne Maier, the U21s recorded a convincing 6-1 victory and in doing so took an enormous step towards the semi-final. With six points and nine goals from two games, Stefan Kuntz’ side occupy first place in Group B. Unfortunately, Kevin Danso couldn’t celebrate such success. Austria were unable to come out on top against the Netherlands, despite an opening goal from Philipp Lienhart, and eventually lost 3-1. In the final group game on Sunday 23rd July, the two Augsburg man will face each other when Germany play Austria at 21:00 CEST.
