FCA backroom staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Member of staff now in quarantine

A member of FC Augsburg’s backroom staff has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member consulted the team doctors immediately after family members displayed symptoms of the virus, and did not come into contact with the squad. After being tested separately from the team, the individual is now in quarantine at home.

The member of staff was not in attendance at last Saturday’s DFB-Pokal game against MTV Eintracht Celle, so the last contact with the squad was on the day before the match. Since then, two rounds of testing have been carried out on both the squad and the backroom staff, with all results coming back negative. As a precautionary measure, FC Augsburg have carried out an additional round of testing.

“The club’s procedure is strictly in accordance with hygiene guidelines and was implemented perfectly. This case is a very good example of how effective the guidelines are," stated FCA director of sport Stefan Reuter, as he praised the level-headed response of the staff member and the team doctors.

The individual will only resume work following quarantine if two test results come back negative.
