Maximilian Bauer is making a permanent move from FC Augsburg to Arminia Bielefeld. The 26-year-old defender has been on loan at the 2. Bundesliga club since January, making 17 appearances. Following Bielefeld securing their place in the league, the agreed obligation-to-buy clause has now been triggered.

Bauer joined FCA on a free transfer from SpVgg Greuther Fürth ahead of the 2022/23 season. He made a total of 55 competitive appearances for the club, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He will be particularly remembered for scoring the decisive spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out in the DFB-Pokal round-of-16 tie against Karlsruher SC in the 2023/24 season.

Prior to his loan spell in Bielefeld, Bauer also spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He will now continue his career on a permanent basis in Germany’s second tier.
