Lukas Petkov signs professional contract and heads on loan to Verl

FCA talent Lukas Petkov, who made his professional debut against FC Bayern Munich in the final game of the season, has signed a professional contract with the club until 30th June 2024, and will spend the next season on loan at third division side SC Verl. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the details of the transfer.
"I was very happy to get the opportunity to make my debut in the Bundesliga in the game against Bayern. My aim is to make many more Bundesliga appearances for FCA. Going on loan to Verl, I'll get the chance to play professional football regularly next season, so I'm delighted that this move has worked out," said Lukas Petkov, who was born in Friedberg and has been advanced through all the levels of FCA's youth academy since 2008.
"We had very good experience last season loaning out our young players to give them the match practice they need to develop. For Lukas, his next step is at SC Verl and we are convinced that he will get his playing time in the 3. Liga and can develop positively," said Stefan Reuter, managing director for sport.
