FC Augsburg have been active on the transfer market, signing Florian Niederlechner from SC Freiburg. The 28-year-old is looking forward to the new challenge and also meeting up with a familiar face at FCA. “I only wanted to come to FCA and made that very clear to Stefan Reuter. I’m delighted that it all worked out,” said a happy Niederlechner at his contract signing. The striker, born in Hohenlinden, will strengthen Augsburg’s strike force the coming season and is also looking to ensure the club’s survival. I’m delighted that it all worked out.[/su_quote] His career began in the youth academy at TSV 1860 München, before he turned professional at 1. FC Heidenheim. He made 33 appearances and scored 15 goals for them in the 2. Bundesliga, while also adding ten assists, making him one of the most dangerous strikers in the league. 1. FSV Mainz 05 bought the attacker in 2015/16, where he then met his future FCA coach: Martin Schmidt. Niederlechner played 14 times for Schmidt, but was then loaned out to SC Freiburg for 18 months. He then signed for them on a permanent deal in May 2017. In total, he scored 26 goals for SCF. Stefan Reuter was also pleased with the new signing and revealed what qualities he will bring to the team: “Florian Niederlechner embodies all of the values of FCA. He is an extremely hard working player with a super mentality. We’re pleased that he’s here now!” Welcome to Augsburg, Florian Niederlechner!
