Hahn: “Fight, passion and heart”

Interview with FCA's striker

First Team 01.04.2021, 12:00

André Hahn is in top form at the moment. The attacker scored two headers in the 3-1 friendly win over 1. FC Heidenheim last week. He discussed the reasons for his outstanding performances and his expectations for Saturday’s game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (3rd April, 15:30 CEST).

“It’s been good having a less intense week with a day off and time to recover,” said Hahn about the international break. It’s not been a completely quiet period, though, as FCA took on 1. FC Heidenheim in a friendly last Friday. “These games mainly help the guys who haven’t had much game time, but they are also important for everyone to keep up the momentum,” explained the attacker. Hahn himself scored two headers in the 3-1 win over FCH. “I enjoy proper action every week,” said the 30-year-old.

After a somewhat patchy 2019/20 campaign, Hahn has been a key performer this season. He has scored six goals, making him the club’s top goalscorer. “I’ve got luck on my side at the moment. My finishing is spot on right now,” commented Hahn. “I’m pleased that things are going well for me personally and that I’ve been able to help the team.” Nevertheless, the most important thing for Hahn is the team’s success, so it’s even nicer for him when he contributes to that.

“You can always run and fight”

Hahn feels that one reason for his current success is that he completed a full pre-season: “Physical fitness is very important and I’m at a good level.” The 30-year-old is one of the players who covers the most ground during 90 minutes too, often running over 12km. “My strengths are my fight, passion and heart,” he revealed. During his childhood, his father told him: “even when things aren’t going well, you can always run and fight” and he took those words to heart. “These are the things that I will always do and they’ve made me who I am today,” he explained. Hahn also stated the importance of the trust placed in him by FCA head coach Heiko Herrlich.

Next up for FCA is a home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday (3/4, 15:30 CEST). The clash is important to both teams, with the visitors sat in 11th on 30 points and the Fuggerstädter in 13th with 29, meaning just one point separates the two sides. Hahn is fully focused ahead of the match-up: “We’re obviously preparing for our opponents, however we still need to look at ourselves too. We have to bring our quality onto the pitch and everyone has to give 100%. We are desperate to keep the points at the WWK Arena and we’ll do all we can to make that happen!”
