FCA and Sandro Wagner part ways

Mutual agreement

FC Augsburg and Sandro Wagner have agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent. The decision follows open and honest discussions between CEO Michael Ströll, sporting director Benni Weber and Wagner. His coaching team have also left the club.

“We would like to thank Sandro and his team for their work and the passion they brought to FCA. In the talks after the game against Hoffenheim, we realised that the belief and conviction to turn things around with our current setup were no longer there. Every decision we take is based on what’s best for FCA, and that’s why we have reached this conclusion,” said FCA CEO Michael Ströll.

“Sandro set important processes in motion over the past months and worked with great dedication for the club, which we’re grateful for. As a club, we remain convinced of the path we’ve chosen and will continue along it. Now the priority is to bring stability back to the team and to pick up points in our upcoming matches,” added sporting director Benni Weber.

“I tackled the job at FCA with energy and real passion. We wanted to make big changes together, but unfortunately we weren’t able to achieve what we’d hoped in the short time we had. I want to thank everyone at the club for the trust and support I’ve had here. I wish FCA nothing but the best for the future,” said Sandro Wagner.

Manuel Baum to take charge until the winter break

Manuel Baum will take over as interim head coach until the winter break and will prepare the team for the remaining three Bundesliga fixtures in 2025.
