FC Augsburg have decided to part ways with head coach Jess Thorup, following multiple days of analysis at the end of the season.

"We would like to thank Jess Thorup for his efforts at FC Augsburg over the last two years. Jess identified fully with FCA and helped bring stability to our team over the last two years. The decision was far from easy for all of us. However, following an intense decision-making process and open and honest discussion, we have decided to make a change in our head coach in the interests of continuing the development and direction of our club. We wish Jess and his family all the best," said Michael Ströll, CEO of FCA.

Additionally, the club have chosen to also part ways with sporting director Marinko Jurendic.

“We've sat down over the last few days and taken an in-depth look at all areas. The direction of our club and our sporting development so far and in the future were key topics of discussion. Over the last two years, we've achieved several things together. However, after carefully considering all aspects, we’ve come to the decision to restructure our sporting leadership. We thank Marinko for his dedication and commitment to FCA and wish him and his family all the best for the future,” added Ströll.

FCA will announce their successors as soon as they've been confirmed.
