FCA broadens the team around playing squad

Strengthening of coaching and backroom staff

First Team 06.07.2023, 12:20

FC Augsburg is not only broadening its management with the appointment of sporting director Marinko Jurendic and Heinz Moser (head of development), but there have also been additions to the coaching team and backroom staff of the first team.

Marco Kostmann becomes FCA’s new goalkeeper coach

The new goalkeeper coach Marco Kostmann will be responsible for the joint goalkeeping training. The 57-year-old most recently held the same position at Arminia Bielefeld and replaces Kristian Barbuscak, whose contract expired after three years.

FCA brings in an additional rehabilitation and fitness coach and physiotherapist

Quirin Löppert strengthens the team as an additional rehabilitation and fitness coach. The 36-year-old from Munich was previously the fitness coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach and has also gained experience at FC Schalke 04 and the FC Bayern München academy.

In the area of physiotherapy, the current team now has additional support from Michael Schweika. The 48-year-old physiotherapist and osteopath joins Augsburg from Arminia Bielefeld and will bring his experience into the FCA medical team in the future.

Team management to ensure even more individual support

FC Augsburg is creating a new managerial position such that there will now be a team manager who, together with his team, will take care of the organisational tasks surrounding the first team, but who will also specifically make it even easier for new players to integrate into Augsburg and the squad. Philipp Dolla, who was previously head of service for FCA, will take over this role as head of team management and integration. His team will include team coordinator Jan Reckord, as well as equipment managers Christoph Schade and Marlene and Salvatore Belardo.

“In order to be able to improve in many areas, it is important that we have experts in the team who complement each other and do everything together to ensure that we are successful. We are convinced that these new positions and the additional staff will allow us to work even more individually with the players,” said Stefan Reuter, FCA’s board member for sport.
