Marco Richter and FCA eSports player Yannic Bederke thumped their opponents Mainz on Easter Sunday 10-1 in their latest Bundesliga Home Challenge fixture.

Yannic Bederke continued his fine form and won his third consecutive match, having also defeated his opponent in previous weekends against Hannover and HSV. He defeated his eSport counterpart Dominic “NicMyrrhe” Weihrauch 7-0, with Richter scoring a hat-trick. “It was a perfect game. My attack was especially effective in the second half and kept on scoring!” summarised Bederke after the final whistle.

Marco Richter on form again

Richter went into his game against Leandro Barreiro of Mainz 05 with the seven-goal lead established by Bederke. He suffered an early setback, however, as Eduard Löwen saw red after 19 minutes for a heavy challenge. “That was a frustrating one. I went in too hard, but it meant it was an exciting game from the beginning,” said Richter.

Despite his opponent having a man advantage, Richter went ahead thanks to a header from Alfred Finnbogason. Barriero was able to level proceedings before the half-time whistle, although he missed several chances to go ahead. After the break, Augsburg’s number 23 was on song again, scoring with Rani Khedira on the break, and then with himself to seal a 3-1 win.

Richter: “We’re a good team”

“Leandro Barreiro was a really tough opponent. He focused a lot on attacking and looked to score goals right from the off. I think I had luck on my side today. I’m happy that we’ve won again. Yannic and I are a good team and we’re looking forward to next week,” commented Richter after his 3-1 win. The 10-1 aggregate win was FCA’s third in three weeks of the Bundesliga Home Challenge.
