Baum: "We are annoyed with ourselves"

First Team 10.12.2017, 23:15
FC Augsburg dominated the match against Hertha BSC but only came away with a point. “We should have put the game to bed earlier on, ” head coach Manuel Baum said afterwards. Here is the post-match reaction after the draw. Michael Gregoritsch: “It is just frustrating. We have lost two points today. We showed again that we are a great team but we just aren’t consistent enough in putting our chances away. I should have made it 2-0 but we have to make do with a point.” Philipp Max: “It feels like a loss to be honest. We played really well and we were knocking the ball around nicely but to concede the goal like we did hurts. We should have been further in front and killed off the game. But we can take positives from the performance moving forward.” Caiuby: “It is really frustrating to miss out on the three points so late on. We wanted to get the win at home, you could see that from our performance but unfortunately we’ve only got the one.” Marwin Hitz: “We were clearly the better team, defended well and had loads of big chances to seal the win earlier in the game. But that’s football and you have to stay alert for the whole game. We played well which makes the fact we didn’t get the win more disappointing.” Manuel Baum: “We should’ve been much further ahead earlier on, we had so many chances. It feels like a loss because Hertha barely had any chances. We are annoyed with ourselves because we didn’t see the game out. The boys did play well, though.” Pal Dardai: “We weren’t really there physically or mentally today. We knew that Augsburg would be well organised but we weren’t really at the races after the first 10 minutes. Augsburg were clearly the dominant side but the fact that they didn’t add to their lead meant we always had a chance of getting something from the game. We need to dust ourselves down and we’ll gladly take the point back to Berlin with us."
