Baum: "We have to be satisfied with a point"

First Team 19.12.2018, 01:17
After a turbulent first half which featured four goals, FC Augsburg secured a point away at Hertha BSC. “Overall it wasn’t a great match, so a draw is a fair result for both teams,” summarised FCA head coach Manuel Baum. Here is the post match reaction. Rani Khedira: “We will definitely take. We actually accepted a draw in the match as both teams didn’t really create any clear chances in the second half. It certainly wasn’t a great match but the result is the least we deserve.” Daniel Baier: “We had to defend with everything we had in the dying moments to secure a point in Berlin tonight. We managed to hold on. We started well but conceded two quick goals, despite a dubious decision to play on. Firstly, Hinti had suffered a head injury and secondly the ball went out of play for their second goal. You could see that it shouldn’t have counted. However you could see how we fought back after falling behind. We tried everything to take something home with us tonight.” Kevin Danso: “In the first half, we played good football in parts and took our chances in front of goal. Just like Hertha, we forced the ball forwards from defence too much in the second half. However, we defended well.” Manuel Baum: “We have to be satisfied with a point. It was very disappointing to lose the lead and concede twice in three minutes. However, we didn’t let this get to us and deserved to equalise. In the second half, it was a struggle for superiority. Overall it wasn’t a good match, so a draw is a fair result for both teams.” Pal Dardai: “We also have to accept a point. After conceding an early goal, we responded well. It was a competitive but fair match, in which both teams deserved to take a point.”
