Following Maurice Malone (SV Wehen Wiesbaden) and Sergio Córdova (DSC Arminia Bielefeld), FC Augsburg are loaning out another player for a year. After signing a long term contract with Augsburg, central defender Kevin Danso will be lining up for second-division side Fortuna Düsseldorf in the coming season.

“Despite his age, Kevin already has a lot of experience as a professional footballer,” explains Stefan Reuter, sporting director at FC Augsburg, when discussing the 21-year-old Austrian. “We’re sure that he has a lot of potential, but for his further development it’s vital that he can get match practice at a high level. For that reason, we’re pleased that we’ve been able to arrange this one year loan with Fortuna Düsseldorf.”

Kevin Danso was most recently loaned out to English Premier League side Southampton, although the defender has been playing for FC Augsburg since 2014. “Augsburg means a lot to me. I made my breakthrough as a professional footballer here,” says Danso. “But it’s important for me now to be getting regular minutes on the pitch, so this step is the best solution for all involved.”

Danso made his Bundesliga debut for FC Augsburg in March 2017 at the age of 18. He has made 41 appearances for the club in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals.
