Augsburg sign Lasse Günther from FC Bayern Munich

First new signing ahead of 2021/22

After securing a spot in the Bundesliga for next season, FC Augsburg are now looking ahead to the future. The club can now announce the first signing of the summer with Lasse Günther joining on a free transfer from FC Bayern Munich. The youngster has signed a contract until 30th June 2025 with the option for a one-year extension.

“In Lasse Günther, we are really pleased to be able to bring such a top German talent to the club. He is a player who was courted by lots of big European clubs. We have faith that he can make the immediate step into our Bundesliga team and continue his development next season. We held numerous discussions with Lasse, his family and his advisors in which we showed them the FC Augsburg way. Together with them, we are sure that the move to Augsburg will be the ideal next step in his career,” said Stefan Reuter, managing director for sport.

“It really impressed me how the FC Augsburg guys fought for me. We have talked plenty about the path I can take here with FCA and I am already looking forward to meeting the team and running out in front of the fans at the WWK-Arena for the first time,” said Lasse Günther.

The 18-year-old attacker has played 13 games for Germany at youth level (U16 to U18) and scored three goals in five matches as a sixteen-year-old in the UEFA Youth League for FC Bayern U19s. He also played five 3. Liga matches for FC Bayern II last season.
